New Delhi. Food safety regulator Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to Nestle India and Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) for making misleading claims on the packaging of some food products.
FSSAI, in a post on ‘X’ on Saturday, said that two separate notices have been issued against these two companies for making misleading claims and non-compliance of rules.
The regulator said that in the case of HUL, this notice has been issued for making misleading claims on its product ‘Horlicks Women’s Plus Chocolate Nutrition Drink 400 grams’.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India said that HUL has been asked to respond to the notice within the stipulated time.
The concerned licensing authorities and e-commerce platforms have also been requested to take necessary action. In another case involving HUL, FSSAI has issued a notice for misleading claims on ‘Horlicks Mother’s Plus Saffron 400 gm BIB’.
Meanwhile, the regulator has issued notices to Nestle India, Schreiber Dynamics Dairies Pvt Ltd and Lotus Dairy Products Pvt Ltd for non-compliance of rules related to ‘ready-to-drink’ products.
The regulator found Nestle India marketing and selling ‘Nescafe Intense Café’ Cappuccino flavour, ‘Nescafe Choco Mocha’ and ‘Nescafe Chilled Latte’ manufactured by Schreiber Dynamics Dairies and Lotus Dairy Products on e-commerce platforms. The regulator said conflicting descriptions were found on the packaging of these products.
