New Delhi: Youth starting a formal job for the first time can get financial assistance of up to ₹ 15,000 under the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY). This amount is given in two installments. The first installment is available on completion of six months of service, while the second installment is subject to completion of 12 months of service and completion of the financial literacy program on the EPFO member portal. For this the prescribed eligibility conditions will also have to be fulfilled.
Financial assistance up to ₹ 15,000 for those doing first job
Under the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), eligible employees doing formal jobs for the first time will be given an incentive amount of up to ₹ 15,000. The objective of this scheme is to connect the youth with formal employment and provide financial assistance at the beginning of the job.
Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has advised eligible employees to complete the financial literacy program available on its member portal. This course is included in the mandatory conditions for receiving the second installment of the scheme. In such a situation, merely starting the job will not be enough, but the employees will also have to follow the prescribed rules of the scheme.
Under the scheme, an eligible employee can get an incentive amount equal to one month's salary. Its maximum limit is fixed at ₹ 15,000. This amount is given in two installments, so that the youth working for the first time get financial assistance and are also encouraged to remain in formal employment.
Incentive amount will be given in two installments
To get the first installment under the Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rozgar Yojana, the employee will have to complete six months of continuous employment. The first installment will be paid upon fulfillment of prescribed eligibility conditions. After this, to get the second installment the employee will have to complete 12 months of service.
Another important condition has been laid down for the second installment. The employee will have to complete the Financial Literacy Program available on the EPFO Member Portal. The objective of this program is to make employees aware about savings, financial planning and future financial security.
This means that to receive the full incentive amount, employees will have to complete the prescribed duration of the job and also take the necessary courses. Therefore, eligible youth should get information about the terms and payment guidelines of the scheme in time.
Which employees will get the benefit of the scheme?
The benefit of this scheme will be available to those employees who are engaged in formal employment for the first time and have not previously been members of the Employees Provident Fund Organization. For this, the monthly salary of the employee should be up to ₹ 1 lakh. According to the available information, eligible employees who started jobs between August 1, 2025 and July 7, 2027 can come under the scope of the scheme.
To avail the benefits of the scheme, it is also necessary for the employee to be registered with EPFO. Along with this, the bank account should be linked to Aadhaar, so that the incentive amount can be sent directly to the account. Employees should also ensure that their job and other details conform to the prescribed eligibility criteria of the scheme.
However, merely meeting these conditions may not be sufficient. It is also important to follow other rules applicable under the scheme. So it would be better to check the official guidelines before applying.
How to complete the course on EPFO portal?
To get the second installment, employees will have to visit the member portal of EPFO and see the information related to the financial literacy program. It will be necessary to complete the course as per the instructions available there. Through this program, employees can get information like how to manage their income, make regular savings and make financial planning for future needs.
Employees should confirm the course completion process and related conditions from the official portal. This will help in completing the necessary formalities for the second installment on time.
Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rojgar Yojana provides an opportunity of financial assistance to the youth who are employed for the first time. However, not all employees will automatically receive the entire amount of ₹15,000. Its benefit will be available only after fulfilling the eligibility, prescribed tenure of the job and other necessary conditions. Therefore the youth should complete the further process as per the official guidelines of EPFO.
