Vrindavan: On Monday afternoon, near the old petrol pump on the Mathura-Vrindavan road, the earth wire of the high tension line broke and fell on a five-year-old child. The child got seriously burnt due to electric shock and became unconscious on the spot. There was chaos at the spot after the accident. Passers-by hurriedly took the child to a hundred-bed hospital. Seeing his serious condition after first aid, the doctors referred him to SN Medical College, Agra.

According to the information, Shiva, the five-year-old nephew of Ajay Kumar, who runs an Ayurvedic dispensary near the old petrol pump on Mathura road, was going to the market with his maternal grandmother Karishma. Meanwhile, suddenly the earth wire of the high tension line broke and fell on the child. As soon as the prince came in contact with the wire, he got burnt and became unconscious. The people present nearby got scared after seeing the accident. The passers-by showed promptness and took the child to the hospital and informed the family.
Electricity department told about earth wire work, questions raised on security arrangements
On the other hand, regarding the incident, Sub Divisional Officer Distribution of Electricity Department, Pankaj Kumar said that earth wire is installed above the high tension line for safety reasons. This is a wire installed over the 11 or 33 KV line, whose purpose is to control earthing. He said that under the security system, in case of any abnormal situation, the supply of high tension line gets tripped automatically. At present the injured child is being treated. After the accident, questions are also being raised regarding the safety of electrical wires.
