Bramblin is a Grass and Ghost-type Pokémon from the Paldea region that made its debut in Pokémon GO during the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event in October 2026. This unusual tumbleweed Pokémon has a special evolution method, so collecting Candy alone will not be enough to transform it into Brambleghast.
To complete the evolution, you must collect 50 Bramblin Candy and walk 20 kilometres with Bramblin as your Buddy. Once both requirements are complete, you can evolve it directly from its Pokémon summary screen.
How to Evolve Bramblin in Pokémon GO
Evolving Bramblin into Brambleghast requires two things:
- 50 Bramblin Candy
- Walking 20 kilometres with Bramblin as your Buddy
Both requirements must be fulfilled before the Evolve button becomes available. You cannot skip the walking task by collecting extra Candy, so it is best to start working on the distance as soon as you catch Bramblin.
Unlike Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, where Bramblin evolves after walking 1,000 steps outside its Poké Ball and gaining a level, Pokémon GO uses a dedicated Buddy distance requirement.
Step 1: Catch Bramblin
Before you can begin the evolution process, you need to catch Bramblin. During the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event, which runs from October 13 to October 19, 2026, Trainers can encounter this Pokémon through several methods.
The available options include:
- Incense: Activate regular Incense and walk around to attract Pokémon. Bramblin can appear during the event.
- Field Research: Complete event-themed Field Research tasks that reward Pokémon encounters.
- GO Pass: Progress through the event’s GO Pass to reach Bramblin encounter rewards.
Try to catch multiple Bramblin instead of keeping only the first one you encounter. Additional catches help you collect Candy and give you a chance to find one with better individual stats.
Step 2: Set Bramblin as Your Buddy
After catching Bramblin, select the one you want to evolve and make it your Buddy Pokémon.
To do this, open your Pokémon collection, select Bramblin, and choose the Buddy option. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your selection.
Make sure you choose the correct Bramblin before starting your walking progress. If you have several copies, you should decide which one you want to evolve based on its stats, appearance, or personal preference.
Step 3: Walk 20 Kilometres With Bramblin
This is the most important part of the evolution process. You must walk a total of 20 kilometres with Bramblin assigned as your Buddy.
You do not need to finish the entire distance in one session. Instead, accumulate the distance over several walks while the game records your Buddy progress.
Here are some useful tips:
- Keep Bramblin selected as your active Buddy while walking.
- Check its distance progress regularly in Pokémon GO.
- Enable Adventure Sync if you want eligible walking activity to count while the app is closed.
- Make sure the game has recorded the required distance before attempting to evolve Bramblin.
Remember that Bramblin’s regular Buddy Candy distance is 5 kilometres. This is separate from the 20-kilometre evolution requirement, so do not confuse the two values.
Step 4: Collect 50 Bramblin Candy
Along with walking 20 kilometres, you need 50 Bramblin Candy to complete the evolution.
The easiest way to collect Candy is to catch more Bramblin whenever you encounter them. You can also use Pinap Berries before catching them to increase the Candy received from successful catches.
Other useful methods include:
- Catching Bramblin whenever it appears.
- Transferring duplicate Bramblin you do not need.
- Using Rare Candy and converting it into Bramblin Candy if necessary.
- Walking with Bramblin to earn Buddy Candy separately.
Keep track of your Candy total throughout the process. Completing the walking requirement does not automatically provide all the Candy needed for evolution.
Step 5: Evolve Bramblin Into Brambleghast
Once you have collected 50 Bramblin Candy and completed the 20-kilometre Buddy task, open Bramblin’s summary screen.
Check that both requirements are complete, then tap the Evolve button. Confirm your choice to begin the evolution animation.
Your Bramblin will transform into Brambleghast, adding the evolved Pokémon to your collection. If the Evolve button is unavailable, double-check the walking progress and Candy total.
