Political propaganda in 'Dhurandhar'! Shashi Tharoor raised serious questions on Ranveer Singh's film

news desk – Senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has given his reaction on Ranveer Singh's spy thriller film 'Dhurandhar' and its sequel 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. Along with praising the acting and making of the film, he has raised serious questions on the violence, political propaganda and depiction of India-Pakistan shown in it. In a nearly seven-minute video shared on his official social media account, Tharoor talked about those aspects of the film about which he has objections.

Shashi Tharoor described the film's action and violent scenes as excessive. He said that there was no need to show bloodshed, cruelty and extremely disgusting scenes in the film. According to him, the level of violence in the film is very high and many scenes have been exaggerated.

Questions raised on political propaganda in the film

Shashi Tharoor also questioned the political agenda visible in the film's story. He said that there is clear political propaganda visible in the film. Apart from Pakistan, he also mentioned the film being banned in many Gulf countries. According to him, these countries fear that the film may increase bitterness and hatred between the people of India and Pakistan.

Tharoor said that he can understand the concerns of these countries. Discussing the film's potential impact on Pakistani audiences, he said that some dialogues may make them laugh, while some scenes may make them think about the mistakes made in their country's past.

However, amidst criticism, Tharoor also described 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' as better fiction entertainment than the first part. In this way he distinguished between the film's entertainment potential and its political message.

Difference explained between real intelligence agencies and film story

Tharoor also drew a distinction between the intelligence operations shown in the film and the working style of real intelligence agencies. He said that in real life he has worked with many intelligence officers, where exchange and analysis of information plays a major role.

According to him, the dramatic operations depicted in films, such as bombing distant capitals, do not match his experiences in the real world. He acted in the film R. Madhavan's character Ajay Sanyal's work was described as an example of dramatic freedom. The character is reportedly inspired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The film is made under the direction of Aditya Dhar

Ranveer Singh is seen in the lead role in director Aditya Dhar's film 'Dhurandhar'. The story has also been taken forward in the film's sequel 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Actors like Madhavan and Sara Arjun are in important roles.
