People wait the whole year to go to their homes from cities during the festival season. During festivals like Diwali and Chhath, the number of homebound passengers becomes very high and it is difficult to get space for everyone in the trains running on normal days. In such a situation, Railways runs special trains on the occasion of festivals for the convenience of passengers. In such a situation, Indian Railways is running many festival special trains amid the rush for tickets. These special trains are being run between every major city and districts of the country.
Northern Railway is running many special trains. During the festive season, Northern Railway is planning to increase the number of trips by about 30 percent compared to last year to more than 6,200 trips. A total of 4,666 trips of special trains were operated by Northern Railway during the Tihauri season last year. This year the new trains have been regularised, which will make 2,600 trips during this period. Currently 3,600 trips have already been announced.

Railways talked to Khabargaon
Meanwhile, apart from the festival special trains, Northern Railway has also installed extra coaches in 25 premium trains. After installation of these extra coaches, two thousand waiting tickets of passengers are being cleared every day. Talking to 'Khabargaon', Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay gave the information.
What did the Railways tell?
Himanshu Shekhar said, 'Extra coaches have been installed in 25 trains. Now there is no train which is not running at its full capacity. These 25 trains are being run with coaches as long as the length of the platform. Accordingly, the waiting tickets of 4,000 people will be cleared in one trip of 25 trains. Let us tell you that what is meant by a trip is that the train went from Delhi to Patna and came back to Delhi after going from Patna.

This step of Northern Railway will provide relief to those people whose tickets are in waiting list and they are waiting for their tickets to be cleared to go home. These extra coaches have been installed by Northern Railway especially in trains going to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Passengers can get any other information about Railways by dialing 139.
