Jigsaw. On Friday morning, the police got a big success in the murder case of retired Assistant Commissioner of Customs Department of Bhojpur district, Ram Kumar Singh. The shooter involved in the murder was injured in a police encounter near Sarangpur turn of Bahoranpur police station area. He was shot below the knee in his right leg. The police admitted the injured shooter to Ara Sadar Hospital for treatment, where he is undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors.
After receiving information about the encounter, Bhojpur SP Awadhesh Dixit reached the spot and started investigating the entire matter. The injured shooter has been identified as Pawan Yadav, 22-year-old son of Nirmal Yadav, resident of Chandwa Housing of Nawada police station area. SP Awadhesh Dixit, who reached the spot, said that there was a police encounter with shooter Pawan Yadav, the main accused in the Ram Kumar Singh murder case. During interrogation, Pawan Yadav had given information about the hiding place of the weapon used in the murder. After this, the police reached the spot to recover the weapon. Meanwhile, taking the opportunity, Pawan Yadav started firing on the police team.
When he opened fire even after being warned by the police, the police shot him in the leg in self-defense. SP said that information has been received about the involvement of his other associates in the murder. The police is busy searching for them. He said that the entire matter will be revealed soon.
Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit said that at around 6 am on October 15, 2026, retired Assistant Commissioner of Custom Department, Ram Kumar Singh was murdered near the eastern gate of Jain College in Kanakpuri locality under Nawada police station area of Arrah. After the incident, a case was registered in Nawada police station. Considering the seriousness of the matter, SIT was formed, which was headed by SDPO Sadar-1. Many senior police officers were also involved in this. The police team was investigating various aspects of the application given by the relatives of the deceased and the allegations made in it as well as the possible reasons for the murder.
SP Awadhesh Dixit said that earlier shooter Pintu Kumar was caught from Koilwar area of Bhojpur. He is a friend of Chandan Singh, the main accused in this case. He was arrested on his information. Pintu has a criminal history. He is accused of about ten serious cases including murder, attempt to murder, liquor case.
Dixit told that Chandan Singh and other nominees had together given contract for the murder of Ram Kumar Singh. Two lakh rupees were given in the first installment, so that pistol and other necessary items could be purchased for the murder. A contract worth about Rs 7 lakh was given for the murder. Before the murder, all the accused had sat together and conspired to commit the murder. SP said that Pintu always roamed around with weapons. Even on the day of the murder he had a pistol. After Pintu’s arrest, a country-made pistol and two cartridges were also recovered from his house. All the people who had shares in 14 katha land have been identified.
SP Awadhesh Dixit said that the police have arrested the first four accused in this case. These include Manoj Kumar Singh alias Lucky, Chandan Singh, Abhishek Kumar and Tipu. Primary accused Manoj Lucky was arrested soon after the incident. After this, three other accused were caught during the raids conducted in the last two days. Chandan Singh is a resident of Nagar police station area Singhi, while Abhishek Kumar, Bind Toli and Tipu, father of Ramadhar Singh, are residents of Chandwa Housing Colony. Chandan Singh and Abhishek were arrested from Kolkata Airport, while Tipu was caught from Town area of Bhojpur district.
SP said that in the investigation so far, the main reason behind the murder has come to light is land dispute. The disputed land is located in Singhi of Bhojpur district. Since 2006, Ram Kumar Singh’s land was in the name of his son. In the year 2020, the land was also cordoned off by him.
Police investigation has revealed that the opposition party took power of attorney for this land in the year 2025 and on the basis of that, got the land registered in the names of different people. After this, mutation of land was also done. According to the SP, the police is investigating the aspect that even when Ram Kumar Singh was in possession of the land for a long time, on what basis was the registration and mutation of the concerned land done. SP Awadhesh said that on the basis of the arrested shooter, raids are being conducted to arrest other shooters.
