Lucknow: BJP councilor Ramu Das Kanojia and his brother have been arrested by Madianv police in connection with the assault in the capital Lucknow. Both are accused of assaulting a person. In this case, the video of the councilor’s hooliganism had gone viral on social media, in which a person riding a scooter was assaulted.
Allegation of indecency with the woman who came to get income certificate made
According to the information, Geeta Bajpai, resident of Lahoreganj, Daliganj, now lives with her family in Vishnu Vihar Colony, Faizullaganj. On Wednesday, she along with her husband Vijay Bajpai had reached the councilor’s office of Ward-4 located in Dawood Nagar, Madianv to get the income certificate made.
It is alleged that councilor Ramu Das Kanojia refused to get the income certificate made citing the address recorded in the Aadhar card. When the woman asked the reason for this, the councilor started abusing her. When they protested, they were pushed and abused.
Accused of beating husband with whip and stick
According to the woman, when her husband Vijay Bajpai protested, the councilor, his brother and two other people surrounded him. After this he was beaten with sticks and whips. It is alleged that the couple was also threatened with death if they complained to the police.
A case was registered after the video went viral
The matter came into discussion after the video of the incident went viral on social media. After this, Madianv police had registered a case against four people including the BJP councilor and his brother. Now the police has arrested councilor Ramu Das Kanojia and his brother.
Madiyanv police station in-charge Inspector Alok Rao had said that a report is being registered in the matter and investigation is being done. Ramu Das Kanojia is a BJP councilor from Ward No. 4 of Faizullaganj.
