A large consignment of money was being brought from India-Nepal border, SSB caught two there
Sanjay Singh, Patna. A major impact of the strictness of security agencies has been seen on the Indo-Nepal international border in Motihari, East Champaran. As part of the campaign against illegal currency, SSB and local police, in a joint action, have seized Nepali and Indian currency worth about Rs 11 lakh. During this time, two suspects have been detained, with whom intensive interrogation is going on.
Special campaign on the instructions of SP
This entire action is part of a special operation being run on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat. According to the information, Police Station Head Sudhir Kumar, posted in the same police station area, had received secret information that two persons from Nepal were going to enter India illegally with a huge amount of currency. Taking the information seriously, coordination was immediately established with the SSB team and Jiyalal check post was cordoned off.

After some time both the suspects were seen coming from Nepal side. As soon as they reached near the check post, security forces stopped and searched them. During investigation, the first suspect was identified as Naresh Kumar Gupta, a resident of Shikarganj police station area of East Champaran district. Rs 9,63,650 in Nepali currency and Rs 71,410 in Indian currency were recovered from his bag.
The second suspect is from Nepal
Whereas the second suspect, Jayalal Ram, who is a resident of Bara district of Nepal, Rs 1,10,000 in Nepali currency was found from him. All the recovered money has been duly confiscated by the police and both the accused have been taken into custody and interrogation has been started.
In the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that this case is not just about individual trafficking but is linked to a big illegal currency network. Police are trying to find out the source of such a huge amount of currency and where and for what purpose it was to be used. Along with this, other people associated with this racket are also being identified.

Such actions in the border area clearly indicate that security agencies are now extremely alert about any kind of illegal activities. Especially the Indo-Nepal border, which being an open border is often used for smuggling and illegal transactions, surveillance has been tightened there.
Campaign against criminals will continue
Police officials say that further raids and investigation will continue in this matter. If other members of this network come forward, strict legal action will be taken against them also. Besides, patrolling and intelligence inputs are being continuously strengthened to keep an eye on suspicious activities on the border.
