Aamir Khan, Gauri Spratt Tie The Knot; Guests Delayed But Heavy Mumbai Rains Fail To Deter Spirit

Mumbai: Heavy monsoon rains and blustery conditions threw Mumbai out of gear, but the harsh weather failed to dampen spirits as Aamir Khan married his partner Gauri Spratt in an intimate ceremony on Sunday.

Guests headed for Aamir’s Pali Hill residence from morning, aware that it could take much longer than normal to reach their destination on a typically fierce monsoon day in Mumbai.

Paparazzi videos posted on social media showed the Mukesh Ambani family’s convoy of cars being held up amid torrential showers and fallen tress across the road.

The Ambanis eventually reached the wedding venue and took part in the celebrations.

Several other guests were also delayed.

Preparations for the wedding were completed as workers and staff braved the weather and raced against time to finish the job.

There were around 150 guests for the private ceremony, made up of close family and friends.

Aamir and Gauri registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act, opting for a simple, legal union.

This is the 61-year-old Aamir’s third marriage.

The ‘3 Idiots’ star married Reena Dutta in 1986 and have two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. After they split in 2002, Aamir met filmmaker Kiran Rao on the sets of ‘Lagaan’, and they got married in 2005 after dating for some time. They have a son, Azad, who was born via surrogacy.

Aamir and Kiran announced their separation in 2021.

Gauri, on the other hand, got married for the second time.

Bengaluru-born Gauri, 47, is a creative consultant and entrepreneur, and presently associated with Aamir Khan Productions.

The duo announced made their relationship formal around a year ago.

Besides Aamir’s children, Gauri’s son Quinn were present at the wedding.

Other guests included filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who directed Aamir’s iconic film ‘Lagaan’, Raj Kumar Santoshi, actress Rhea Chakraborty.
