Reference to implementation of Section 163 in Connaught Place

These days Abhijeet Deepke is staying at the residence of NCP spokesperson Anees Gawande on Panchkuian Road. The police team reached there and gave them notice. It said that Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) is in force in the Connaught Place area. Permission has not been taken from New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for the Tricolor Yatra. In such a situation, taking out a march in Connaught Place despite the restrictions can be considered a violation of the rules.

Police clarified that there is no ban on hoisting the tricolor, but taking out a procession without permission or gathering a crowd of people may come under the ambit of restrictions. If this is done, legal action will be taken against the people concerned.

Describing Connaught Place as a busy commercial area, the notice mentions the problems created by crowd gathering. According to the police, entry and exit routes are limited here. The gathering of a large number of people at one place can affect the movement of people in the surrounding areas as well.

Apart from this, many showrooms, hotels, restaurants and banks are present in the area. The number of customers here increases in the evening and during festivals. Police have expressed apprehension that if the crowd increases, there may be problems in the movement of common people and operation of emergency services. Through the notice, the police has warned Abhijeet Deepke to follow the rules. Now an eye is being kept on what further steps are taken regarding the program.
