According to eyewitnesses, the incident started at around 3:13 in the morning, when the air conditioner on the top floor of the building unexpectedly exploded. Within a few moments the fire quickly spread to the second, third and fourth floors, leaving many families without time to react.

Rohit, a local resident, said that people heard the screams and tried to escape outside, but many were trapped inside due to the fire. The fire brigade team reached the spot at around 3:35 am and started rescue operations and fire control.

After hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control, but by then many people had died. The search continued to ensure that no one was trapped inside the building.

Local resident Charanjit Singh said that the neighbors helped save many people by risking their lives. Although some managed to escape through the flats at the rear of the building, there were concerns that one or two families might be trapped for a long time.

The local residents demanded strict implementation of fire safety rules in old and congested areas. According to preliminary information, the building did not have adequate fire fighting equipment, and emergency evacuation systems were also limited.
