Actress Aditi Sharma files complaint against husband and in-laws

29-year-old Aditi Sharma, who has appeared in popular TV serials like ‘Rab Se Hai Dua’, ‘Kaleerein’ and ‘Apolline – Sapno Ki Unchi Udaan’, has filed a police complaint against her husband and in-laws. The complaint was filed at Goregaon police station in Mumbai, based on which the police have registered an FIR and started investigation. The case was registered on July 31 against her husband Vidyanand Kaushik, mother-in-law Urmila Kaushik and sister-in-law Kirti Kaushik. Aditi Sharma is known for her roles in TV shows.

In her complaint, Aditi has alleged physical and mental harassment, domestic violence, assault, abuse, character shaming and misuse of her dowry jewellery.

The FIR has been registered under sections 3(5) (common intention), 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 352 (intentional insult) and 85 (cruelty by husband or his relatives towards a married woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

The story of Aditi and Vidyanand

Aditi told police that they met during an online acting class in June 2021. They struck up a friendship and later entered into a relationship. The couple moved into a flat in Goregaon West in September 2024 and married on November 12, 2024, with the consent of both families.

Post-marriage experience

Aditi alleged that her husband’s behavior changed shortly after their marriage. She said Vidyanand began objecting to her clothing choices and picking fights over trivial matters. Aditi also said that her husband did not contribute to household expenses and instead took money from her.

Abuse and character questions

According to the complaint, on January 1, 2025, an argument over coffee escalated into verbal abuse. Aditi alleged that her husband then questioned her character and accused her of having an affair.

She also said that her husband started checking her phone frequently and started sleeping in a separate room.

Aditi accused her mother-in-law of keeping her wedding jewelry, including a gold chain, rings, a diamond ring, a mangalsutra, and bangles. She said the jewelry was not returned despite repeated requests. Aditi also said that when her mother-in-law and sister-in-law came to her house to resolve the dispute, they sided with her husband and harassed her further.
