A film set in Karachi’s Lyari has turned into one of the year’s biggest talking points, as Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 continues its strong run at the box office.
But even as the numbers grow, the national award-winning director is focusing on something else, the people behind the scenes.
The 40-year-old filmmaker has been sharing regular posts on Instagram, highlighting the work of his crew.
In his latest post, he turned to the film’s action team, offering a detailed and personal note about the scale and risks involved in bringing the story to life.
“There’s a thin line between conviction and madness and on this film, I crossed it almost every single day,” he wrote.
He described pitching extreme ideas on set, including “a man being cooked inside an industrial pressure cooker, someone being dragged through the busy streets behind a bike with a noose around his neck,” admitting even he found them “ridiculous” at times.
According to him, the team never pushed back. “And every single time, the response was the same, no hesitation, no judgement, just, “Okay, let’s figure it out.”
He revealed that more than 400 stunt performers were used during the shoot.
“We’re running out of stuntmen… There’s no one left, we’ve used almost everyone in Mumbai,” he recalled being told by the action team.
Aditya Dhar also credited international collaborators for shaping key sequences, saying they “didn’t just design action but built moments that audiences could feel in your chest.”
Led by Ranveer Singh, the spy thriller, along with its first part, has reportedly crossed the 3000 crore mark worldwide, putting it among the biggest commercial successes in recent years.
