New Delhi: The effect of continuous bad weather in many hilly areas of the country is now visible on religious pilgrimages as well. In view of bad weather and security concerns, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has decided to stop Vaishno Devi Yatra for some time. Earlier, Amarnath Yatra had also been temporarily postponed due to bad weather.
Priority given to safety of devotees
The Shrine Board said that this decision has been taken on the basis of the warning of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In view of the possibility of continuous rain and bad weather, it was considered necessary to stop the journey. The board says that the safety of the devotees is of utmost importance and no risk will be taken.

According to Shrine Board officials, the weather conditions are being continuously monitored. As soon as the situation becomes normal and safe, Vaishno Devi Yatra will be started again. At present, passengers have been appealed to remain patient and rely only on official information.
Advisory issued for devotees
The Board has requested all the devotees to keep an eye on the official channels of the Shrine Board for new information related to the Yatra. Avoid rumors and follow the instructions issued by the administration. With this, any kind of problem or confusion can be avoided.
Amarnath Yatra also closed for the time being
Earlier, following the warning of the Meteorological Department, Amarnath Yatra was also temporarily stopped from July 19. This decision was taken due to continuous rains and increasing risk of landslides on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes. The administration says that the devotees will be allowed to proceed only after the weather becomes normal.
The journey will resume after the weather improves
The administration has made it clear that both the religious pilgrimages have been stopped temporarily only keeping security in mind. As soon as the weather becomes favorable and the routes are declared safe, the journeys will be resumed. Devotees have been appealed to be patient and wait for any official announcement.
