Big update on weather for Delhiites! Humidity will haunt even after rain, warning of heavy rain in next 24 hours in UP
New Delhi: Monsoon has once again become active in North India. The weather has taken a sudden turn in many states including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Rains are continuing in many areas, while at some places life has started getting affected due to heavy rains. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for many states and appealed to the people to remain alert.
Weather became pleasant in Delhi
The weather in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas remained relatively cool and pleasant on Sunday morning. Due to cloudy sky and light rain, a slight drop in temperature was recorded. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR.
According to IMD, strong winds can blow at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour during the day. At some places, wind gusts are likely to reach 40 kilometers per hour. However, despite the rain, people are not expected to get complete relief from humidity and heat. On Sunday, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 36 to 38 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rain warning in next 24 hours
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain for many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Especially in eastern Uttar Pradesh, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall along with heavy rainfall at some places.
Apart from this, there is also a possibility of thunder, lightning and strong storm in many parts of the state. The administration has advised people to stay away from open spaces, trees and electric poles during bad weather.
Orange alert in Himachal Pradesh
In view of the continuous rain in Himachal Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert. There is a danger of landslides and road blockage in many hilly areas. The administration is continuously monitoring the situation and relief and rescue teams have been kept active if needed.
Flood like situation in Rajouri, impact on travel
Due to continuous torrential rains in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, rivers and drains are in spate. Waterlogging has occurred in many low-lying areas, due to which the problems of the people have increased.
In view of the increasing danger, the district administration has appealed to the people not to undertake unnecessary travel and stay away from flood prone areas. In view of the bad weather, as a precautionary measure, Amarnath Yatra and Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra have been temporarily stopped from Sunday.
