The government is preparing a new plan for the future of firefighters.
A very big and relief news is coming for the fire warriors serving in the country's army under the Agnipath Scheme. The government is now busy in preparing such a new exit system, so that after completing four years of hard service, the firefighters will not have to wait long for a job. According to sources associated with the Defense Ministry, the government's best effort is to ensure that the way for the Agniveers to get further employment in the army, paramilitary forces, police or other government departments is completely cleared for them before the end of their four-year tenure.
The first batch will be completed in January 2027, big preparations by the government
Let us tell you that the first batch recruited under the Agneepath scheme is going to successfully complete its four-year tenure in the coming January 2027. A total of more than 19 thousand Agniveer are included in this first batch. Keeping in mind the completion of four years of such a large number of youth, the government has already started making concrete arrangements to secure their employment and future, so that they do not have to worry about their future.
Process for selection of 25% firefighters will become easier
Under the current rules, 25 percent of the Agniveers of every batch of Agneepath scheme are included in the permanent i.e. regular cadre of the army. Now the government is planning to complete this selection process before the end of the four-year term. For this, special examinations and evaluation will be conducted within the army itself, on the basis of which a merit list will be prepared and the selected Agniveers will directly get a place in the regular cadre.
Under the old system, all the firefighters were first discharged and after that there was a process of re-recruitment of 25 percent. But the main objective of this new system is to completely eliminate this gap and difference.
Government's special plan and reservation for 75% firefighters
After completion of four years of service, the remaining 75 percent Agniveer will come out of the army. The government is also preparing excellent opportunities for government jobs for all these youth. A concrete plan is being made to connect these former firefighters with direct recruitment in the major paramilitary forces, police and other government departments of the country. For this, the Home Ministry is preparing to take this entire process forward through a special portal, so that they can get the next job before the end of their tenure.
Talking about security forces, a big provision of reservation has already been made in many forces for former firefighters. Reservation of up to 50 percent has been given for the posts of constables and riflemen in important forces like BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and Assam Rifles. In these recruitments, former firefighters are given special relaxation in several stages like written examination as well as Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Excellent reservation will be available in Railways and other departments also
Not only in the security forces, but also in the Indian Railways, a special reservation system has been ensured for former firefighters. In Railways, there is a provision of 5 percent horizontal reservation for Category-2 and above posts, while the benefit of 10 percent horizontal reservation will be given for Category-1 posts. Apart from this, along with the Central Government, many different State Governments have also made rules to give preference and reservation to former firefighters in their departments.
Remember that the first batch under the Agneepath scheme was recruited on January 1, 2023, which will complete its four years in January 2027. In this way, this new and wonderful exit policy of the government will prove to be a milestone in shaping the future of those 75 percent youth who will come out after completing their service.
