New Delhi: Tata-led Air India has appointed Ethiopian Airlines Group chief Tewolde Gebremariam as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will replace Campbell Wilson, who resigned as CEO and MD of Air India in April.
Air India on Wednesday said the board of directors today announced the appointment of Tewolde Gebremariam as the airline’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
These changes The company said that this leadership change is an important step in Air India’s transformation journey to become a world-class global airline.
Tewolde Gebremariam is considered one of the most successful leaders in the global aviation industry, having quadrupled Ethiopian Airlines’ revenue and tripled its fleet size in 10 years as CEO, making it Africa’s largest airline.
Now the Tata Group has entrusted him with the command of rapid expansion of Air India, expanding its international network and strengthening its profits.
