Air India may take a big decision amid Iran crisis, food facilities will not be available

Recently a big update has come out regarding the international airline Air India. According to the information, Air India is planning to make food and lounge facilities optional in domestic and international flights up to two hours away. According to this facility, passengers who choose not to take food may see a reduction of Rs 250 in the ticket price.

There will be separate facilities for lounge

Apart from food, Air India is also planning to change the lounge facilities. Under this, passengers who do not want to use the lounge facility will also see a decline in ticket prices. Let us tell you, the cost of lounge in metro cities is between Rs 1100 to 1400 and in small cities it is between Rs 600 to 700.

On an average, about Rs 1000 is spent on a passenger for lounge facilities. In such a situation, if a business class passenger does not want to use it due to lack of time, then he can get tickets at lower prices by removing this option.

Why is this change happening?

According to reports, Air India has included food in its ticket fare since the beginning. However, due to increase in aviation turbine fuel prices and weakening of rupee, ticket prices are now increasing. In a price-sensitive market like India, further increases in fares may lead passengers to opt for other modes of transport, such as train or road travel. For this reason the airline is considering such changes. Let us tell you, many airlines around the world have already adopted these changes. This is the reason why the difference between full-service and low-cost airlines is gradually disappearing.

Air India suffered a loss of Rs 24 crore

Air India Group is planning to implement JPC (Joint Product Concept) model in Air India Express for its new narrow-body fleet. This is a segment in which the number of passengers is high and operating costs are low. Under this model, facilities like free food and lounge are not provided. Along with this, to increase the revenue, the company is also considering options like showing advertisements on the back of the boarding pass. Although this method is already implemented in Air India Express.

Let us tell you that due to the Iran crisis, airlines around the world have been affected. This is the reason why Air India had to suffer a loss of Rs 24 crore last financial year. However, this change is expected to reduce this loss.
