Akhilesh Yadav came out in support of Sonam Wangchuk, appealed to break the fast by talking on phone.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has appealed to Sonam Wangchuk, a social worker from Ladakh and known for education reforms, to end his fast. Wangchuk has been on hunger strike for the last 17 days at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Akhilesh Yadav spoke to him on phone and inquired about his health and urged him to end his fast in public interest.
Akhilesh Yadav gave his open support to Sonam Wangchuk’s Satyagraha through social media posts. He wrote that he spoke to Wangchuk and inquired about his health and appealed to him to break his fast. Akhilesh said that the youth power of the country, their families and parents also wish that Wangchuk should end his fast considering his health.
The SP chief said that the country needs the moral strength of Sonam Wangchuk. He appealed that Wangchuk should take recuperation for a few days, gather new energy and then carry forward his movement. Akhilesh Yadav also targeted the BJP government in his message and said that the movements going on in the country on issues of democracy and public interest should get widespread support. He said that concern is being expressed from all over the world regarding Sonam Wangchuk’s movement and due to this, the democratic image of the country is also being discussed. Akhilesh Yadav claimed that India’s image in the world is being affected due to democratic values under BJP rule.
Akhilesh Yadav also mentioned the NEET exam controversy and other incidents in his statement. He said that sectors like education and medicine have special importance in the society and the government should pay serious attention to the issues related to them. It is noteworthy that Sonam Wangchuk is fasting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for her demands. In their movement, questions are being raised regarding the education system, youth related issues and government policies. After Akhilesh Yadav’s support and appeal to end the fast, this matter has once again come into political discussion.
