Petition filed in High Court regarding Sonam Wangchuk’s deteriorating health, demand raised for forcibly feeding her food

New Delhi: Sonam Wangchuk’s long hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has now reached the court. Amid growing concern over his health, a PIL has been filed in the Delhi High Court, demanding immediate intervention of the court. It has been said in the petition that Wangchuk’s condition is continuously deteriorating and to save his life, he should be immediately admitted to the hospital and provided necessary medical facilities and nutrition.

The PIL filed by activist and advocate Rakesh Kumar Saini has sought directions to the Central Government and the Delhi Government to immediately take Sonam Wangchuk to the hospital. It has also been said in the petition that if necessary, they should be given necessary nutrition under medical supervision, so that their lives are not in danger. The petitioner claims that Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the last 17 days and if this situation continues, his health may become more serious in the next few days.

Serious concerns expressed regarding health

It has been said in the petition that Sonam Wangchuk’s physical condition is continuously becoming weak. Many signs related to his health have been said to be worrying. It says that if proper treatment is not received in time and any untoward incident occurs, it will be a sad situation for the entire country. It has been suggested in the petition that they should be admitted to the hospital and provided with liquid diet, essential nutrients, vitamins and other essential nutrition under medical supervision, so that their health remains stable.

Sonam Wangchuk is involved in an ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar. This demonstration has been organized by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). During the movement, demands are being raised for reforms in the education system including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) paper leak issue. The aim of this movement is said to be to bring transparency in the examination system and raise voice against alleged irregularities.

For the last few days, many pictures and videos of Sonam Wangchuk have surfaced on social media. In these, he looks very weak and is seen resting under the supervision of doctors. Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke is constantly present with them and is also sharing information about the activities of the movement.

Other demands of the movement also came forward

In this campaign started by Abhijit Dipke, not only the resignation of the Education Minister is being demanded, but also the demands like comprehensive reform in the education system, compensation to the families of the students affected by the paper leak and making the examination system more transparent are also included. People associated with the movement say that they are raising their voice on these issues in a peaceful manner.

Parliament march also announced

Organizers associated with the movement have announced a march to Parliament on July 20. They say that if their demands are not heeded, the protests will continue further. Abhijit Dipke told that he appealed to Sonam Wangchuk several times to end her hunger strike, but she decided to continue her agitation.

Wangchuk called himself a common citizen

Recently, in a video message shared on social media platform X, Sonam Wangchuk said that he does not see himself as any special person or hero. He said that he was only trying to play his role as a responsible citizen and also appealed to the people to fulfill their responsibilities on social issues.
