Due to the new cyclonic circulation formed over the North-West Bay of Bengal and the low pressure area formed in Central India, monsoon activities are once again going to be intense across the country. According to the latest bulletin of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), torrential rains with strong winds and lightning are expected in more than 20 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi-NCR and hill states on August 13. Due to the shift of the monsoon trough line from south to north, the monsoon is becoming active with full force. In view of extremely heavy rains in many sensitive areas, the Meteorological Department has issued red and orange warnings and advised local people and travelers to take special precautions. 1. IMD has issued red warning in these 2 areas. In view of the serious threat of extremely torrential rains, excessive rainfall and landslides, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 2 major areas: North-East India (Assam and Meghalaya region): Due to the direct collision of moist winds coming from the Bay of Bengal, a warning has been given of extreme heavy rainfall in some districts of Assam and Meghalaya. There is a danger of massive destruction and waterlogging here within 24 hours. Hilly States (vulnerable parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand): Due to incessant rains and thunder clouds in Kangra-Kullu of Himachal Pradesh and some hilly districts of Uttarakhand, the possibility of flash floods and landslides has increased. The Meteorological Department has issued a red warning in these areas and given strict instructions to avoid traveling to the hills. 2. U-turn of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh from August 13. People of Uttar Pradesh are soon going to get a big relief from the humidity and scorching heat. Beginning from Purvanchal: After the lull in rain till August 12, monsoon will again pick up pace in the entire state through Purvanchal (Eastern Uttar Pradesh) from August 13. Affected districts: There is a possibility of torrential rains with thunderstorms and winds at the speed of 40 to 50 km/hour in the surrounding districts including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Ballia, Prayagraj, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Bahraich and Lucknow. This rain will prove to be a lifesaver for the paddy crops. 3. Weather patterns in Delhi-NCR and Bihar Delhi-NCR: It will be cloudy throughout the day in the national capital Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad on August 13. In many areas, moderate to heavy rain will be accompanied by cold winds at a speed of 30-40 km/hour, due to which the temperature will drop. Bihar Alert: There is a danger of severe thunderstorm (speed of 50-60 km/hour) and lightning in more than 20 districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Kishanganj. IMD has forbidden farmers from going to open fields. 4. Rainfall conditions and safety advisories in other states: There are chances of moderate to heavy rains in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Konkan-Goa on August 13. An appeal has been made not to take shelter under big trees or electric poles during storms and storms in coastal and hilly areas. Fishermen have been instructed to stay away from the beaches.
