New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a public meeting in Chandigarh on Sunday, targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi fiercely. Shah said that elections are going to be held in Punjab soon and NDA will have a landslide victory there. During this, he termed the timing of INDIA alliance's rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi as an insult to Sikhs.
what did amit shah say
Amit Shah said, "The whole country remembers November 1 in a different way. On this day in 1984, thousands of Sikhs were brutally murdered in Congress inspired riots in Delhi. Thousands were burnt alive, many children became orphans, many sisters became widows." Referring to the controversial statement of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he said, "The then PM Rajiv Gandhi had said that if a big tree falls, the earth shakes. Only Congress leaders can describe the killing of thousands of Sikhs in this manner. I saw that statement on TV, I can't forget it for the rest of my life." Shah said that after the Modi government came to power at the Centre, cases of 1984 riots were reopened, victims were given assistance of Rs 5 lakh each and big Congress leaders were sent to jail.
On November 1, 1984, Congress had massacred thousands of innocent Sikhs in Delhi, and today, on the same day, Rahul Gandhi has rubbed salt into the wounds of those victims' families by organizing a Jalsa in Delhi. https://t.co/M0tluQYv1y

Rahul accused of foreign order
The Home Minister said that BJP had appealed to Congress in a press conference not to hold rallies on November 1, 2 and 3, as these are the days of Sikh riots and sentiments of the Sikh community are involved. But Congress insisted. Shah alleged, "An order came from abroad that the Jalsa would be held on the same day on which thousands of Sikhs were burnt.
Today Rahul Gandhi has rubbed salt into the wound of the riots. I strongly condemn this evil attempt of the Gurus from this holy land. Punjab and India will never forget this." He further said that Rahul Gandhi might have been young at that time, perhaps he had not read history, hence he did not know how sensitive this day is. At the same time, BJP has also termed the rally of INDIA alliance on social media as a 'fair of thugs'.
