Amit Shah’s appeal on the foundation day of Cooperative Ministry – Indian farmers should increase organic production.

New Delhi, 6 July. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah appealed to the farmers of India to promote organic production during the 5th Foundation Day celebrations of the Ministry of Cooperation in New Delhi on Monday. He said that we are also concerned about the health of the population of 140 crores and the people around the world, hence farmers should increase organic production.

Less use of chemical fertilizers increases production rather than decreasing.

Addressing the function, Amit Shah said, ‘Stopping the use of chemical fertilizers will reduce production, this is a misunderstanding. In the last five years, it has been proven that reducing the use of chemical fertilizers does not reduce production but increases and also conserves land. We are bringing 100 percent circular economy in the sugar and dairy sector. Through this, fertilizer that can be an alternative to DAP will be prepared. This indigenous fertilizer will be cheaper and better in quality than DAP, which will provide more benefits to the farms.

Today 8 lakh 30 thousand cooperative societies operate across the country.

Shah said that for 62 years, cooperative work was conducted at the level of only one Joint Secretary under the Agriculture Ministry. Today, the completely independent Cooperative Ministry is moving forward with the involvement of 8 lakh 30 thousand cooperative societies of all the states and the country.

Ministry of Cooperation has achieved many achievements in the last 5 years

He said, ‘In the last five years, we have not only achieved many achievements but have also worked to make our cooperative system modern, transparent, technologically efficient and competitive. Earlier co-operation was limited to the primary sector only. We have linked agricultural credit, dairy, fertilizer distribution and rural services from primary level to national level. Besides, work has also been done to connect secondary and tertiary sectors with it. Storage, production, export, organic production, production of traditional seeds, manufacturing of high productivity seeds, digital services, banking, mobility, logistics and green energy – the work of weaving all these areas into one garland has been done in five years.

9 national level cooperative societies are busy in creating international identity

The Cooperative Minister said, ‘After many years, with the initiative of the Cooperative Ministry, today a total of nine national level cooperative societies have been formed by merging three national level cooperative societies. Through these nine committees, cooperation has been integrated into nine different areas from country to village. He said that just as IFFCO, KRIBHCO, Amul and NDDB have created the identity of the cooperative movement and made it famous all over the world, similarly our nine national level cooperative societies will also become big cooperative societies of international level.

Remarkable work of increasing the flow of credit in the cooperative sector

The Cooperative Minister said, ‘The third thing we have done is to increase the flow of credit in the cooperative sector. Co-operative banks have been linked with modern banking services. Digital payments were started, cyber security was ensured, e-KYC was introduced, and gradually our Urban Cooperative Banks and District Cooperative Banks are moving forward with systems like digital loans. The total business of District Cooperative Banks was earlier Rs 19.6 lakh crore, which has crossed Rs 25 lakh crore today.
