‘Amrit Kaal has become Vish Kaal’: Rahul Gandhi slams Center after NEET UG 2026 cancellation
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday strongly criticized the Central Government after the National Testing Agency (NTA) canceled the NEET UG 2026 examination amid allegations of paper leak and irregularities.
Reacting to the development, Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government and said that “Amrit Kaal has turned into Vish Kaal” for students and their families.

He further highlighted the emotional and financial struggles faced by families preparing for the medical entrance examination.
“Some fathers took out loans, some mothers sold their jewellery, and lakhs of children stayed up all night studying,” he added.
The remarks came shortly after the NTA officially announced the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3. The examination has now been ordered to be re-conducted after investigative findings and inputs from central agencies raised concerns regarding the integrity of the process.
The Center has also handed over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive probe into allegations linked to paper leaks and exam irregularities.
The issue has now escalated into a major political controversy, with opposition parties targeting the government over repeated examination paper leak incidents and demanding accountability.
Meanwhile, lakhs of students and parents across the country are waiting for the announcement of fresh examination dates by the NTA.
