The Indian shooting duo of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal advanced to the final of the mixed skeet shooting event at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday. The pair finished fourth in the qualification round with a score of 138 out of 150 points, trailing Qatar (145), South Korea (143), and China (140), according to Olympics.com.
Both Anantjeet and Parinaaz contributed to India’s medal wins in the men’s and women’s skeet team events on Wednesday. Anantjeet played a key role in the men’s team securing a bronze medal, while Parinaaz, along with Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan, helped the women’s team claim bronze.
In other shooting events on Thursday, the men’s 10m air pistol team comprising Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna, and Aakash Bhardwaj finished fourth with a total score of 1727-53x. China topped the event with 1743-70x, followed by Indonesia (1743-57x) and Japan (1730-54x). Kamaljeet scored 580-16x and placed ninth, Aakash finished eleventh with 579-20x, while Kedarling ranked 35th with 568. Kedarling’s low performance led to India dropping from third to fourth place. Only the top eight shooters advanced to the individual final.
Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi earned her second consecutive silver medal at these Asian Games, losing the women’s sanda 60 kg final to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu on Thursday. Roshibina, who also won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and bronze in 2018, became the first Indian woman to win three consecutive Asian Games medals in Wushu. She lost both rounds 0-5, with Zhang securing the match 2-0, as reported by ESPN. Roshibina’s campaign included a victory over 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy of Vietnam and a 2-0 semi-final win over Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas on Wednesday.
In rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan claimed the bronze medal in the men’s double sculls final on Thursday, finishing with a time of 6:13.25. They were 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists from China, Yi Xudi and Nie Yide, and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin, according to ESPN. Satnam and Salman held second place at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks but lost ground towards the end, at one stage trailing the Chinese pair by just half a second.
In the men’s singles sculls, Balraj Panwar narrowly missed a medal by finishing fourth. Balraj maintained second position through the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m splits but was overtaken by Shakhboz Kholmurzaev of Uzbekistan and Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama in the final 500m. Despite leading Sakurama by five seconds before the last stretch, Balraj finished eight seconds behind, clocking 6:54.80, and was 15 seconds slower than the gold medalist, China’s Zhiwei Deng.
