Former NBA lottery pick Corey Brewerwho spent 13 years in the league as a player prior to joining New Orleans’ coaching staff in 2020, was among several Pelicans employees who weren’t retained after the season ended in April.
According to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 (Twitter link), Brewer has a new job, having been hired as an assistant coach at Arkansas State under head coach Ryan Pannone. Pannone was the head coach of the Pelicans’ G League affiliate in 2021/22 and spent the ’22/23 campaign as an assistant in New Orleans.
Brewer, 40, had been a Pelicans assistant coach each of the past two years after spending four seasons in a player development role.

- Guinean forward Sekou Doumbouya has signed with San Pablo Burgos for the 2026/27 season, the Spanish team announced in a press release. Still just 25 years old, Doumbouya was the 15th overall pick in 2019 and spent parts of three seasons in the NBA with the Pistons and Lakers. He has spent the past three years in France, Spain and Japan. San Pablo Burgos will compete in the Liga ACB — Spain’s top domestic league — and the EuroCup this season.
- The NBA revealed NBA TV’s full broadcast on Thursday, according to a press release from the league. NBA TV will broadcast 60 games during the upcoming season, starting with a double-header on Oct. 24 and wrapping up on Apr. 4.
- Former G League Ignite forward Babacar The is suing the NCAA after he was ruled ineligible to play for St. John’s in 2026/27, writes Zach Braziller of The New York Post (subscriber link). The Senegalese forward, who turns 23 years old later this month, went undrafted in 2024 and signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Utah that offseason, but his lawyers argue the relatively modest bonus he received by playing for the NBAGL’s Salt Lake City Stars “had no meaningful impact” on Sane’s career. The lawsuit, per Braziller, lists nearly 100 players with similar professional experience — including Sane’s former G League Ignite teammates London Johnson and Thierry Darlan — who have been cleared to play by the NCAA in recent years.
