Annamalai met Union Home Minister Amit Shah after Nitin Nabin submitted his resignation in Delhi.

According to some media reports, the BJP high command was trying to stop Annamalai and it was being said that he would be given important responsibilities at the national level. But, he remained firm on his decision. Now he wants to decide his own path. After resigning from BJP and meeting Amit Shah, Annamalai left for Chennai. It is believed that Annamalai was very angry with Nainar Nagendran being made the state president of Tamil Nadu BJP in his place in 2025. There was speculation about his resignation for a long time.
In Tamil Nadu, Annamalai’s statements on MGR and Jayalalitha had increased the tension in the AIADMK and BJP alliance, which caused losses to both the parties. Annamalai’s supporters put up posters at various places including Madurai, appealing to her to take the ‘next avatar’ and ‘save Tamil Nadu’. There has also been speculation that Annamalai is planning to form a new political party after leaving the BJP.
