Announcement of bumper bonus: great news for 2 lakh employees

New Delhi. There is great news for about 2.01 lakh employees of Coal India. After long negotiations between the management and labor organizations, the Performance Linked Bonus (PLR) for the year 2026 has been agreed upon. It has been decided to give a bonus of Rs 1,10,250 to the eligible employees.

According to the information, the bonus amount is ready to be sent to the bank accounts of the employees by October 15. The company will spend around Rs 2,216 crore on this payment. This also includes eligible employees of various subsidiary companies of Coal India. It is said that about 31 thousand employees of BCCL alone will get its benefits.

There was a demand of Rs 1.25 lakh

Apex JCC meeting was held at Coal India Headquarters regarding bonus. Labor organizations had initially demanded a bonus of Rs 1.25 lakh. After several rounds of negotiations, Rs 1,10,250 was finally agreed upon. Many issues including the company's production, coal supply and market situation were discussed in the meeting.

Bonus increased continuously in last three years

The bonuses of coal workers have seen an increase in the last few years. According to the data, the bonus of 2026 is ₹ 93,750 in 2024, ₹ 1,03,000 in 2025, ₹ 1,10,250 in 2026 i.e. the bonus of 2026 is ₹ 16,500 more than that of 2024.

Employees of these companies will get benefits

The benefit of PLR will be available to the employees of eligible subsidiary companies of Coal India. These include BCCL, CCL, ECL, MCL, NCL, SECL and CMPDIL. Apart from this, the issue of ensuring timely payment of salaries to contract workers was also raised in the meeting. Coal India is preparing to give instructions to the concerned companies to ensure payment as per the rules.

The management also informed that after the impact on production and dispatch during monsoon, the situation of demand and supply of coal has improved. The announcement of the bonus is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of employees before the festive season.
