Preparations intensified for Prime Minister’s visit to Doon, route divided into 13 zones, traffic plan released

Dehradun. The district administration has intensified preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Dehradun and the inauguration program of Delhi-Dehradun Express Highway.

The entire route from Asharodi to Garhikant has been divided into 13 zones and zonal and sector magistrates have been deployed. The Prime Minister is proposed to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Express Highway in Ganeshpur (Saharanpur) on 14 April.

During the tour, a glimpse of local folk culture will also be seen from the cultural groups on the entire route. District Magistrate Savin Bansal held a meeting with the officials and gave instructions to keep all the arrangements timely and neat.

In view of the possibility of thousands of people gathering to welcome the Prime Minister, priority is being given to drinking water, parking, traffic management, barricading, cleanliness and security arrangements.

The District Magistrate directed to ensure strict adherence to law and order and all officers to discharge their responsibilities with mutual coordination. Basic facilities like pandal, seating, parking, drinking water, refreshments and mobile toilets are also being ensured for the main event at Mahendra Ground in Garhikant.

Here, in view of the VVIP visit, Dehradun Police has also issued a route diversion plan to keep the traffic system smooth. The administration has appealed to the general public to use the prescribed alternative routes.

According to the released plan, vehicles going from Dehradun to Saharanpur, Roorkee and Delhi will pass through Shimla Bypass Tiraha via Nayagaon Road, Dharmawala Chowk and Behat Marg, while the option of Jogiwala, Laltappad, Raiwala and Haridwar route will also be available from Rispana Bridge.

Vehicles going to Chhutmalpur and Biharigarh will be diverted via Shimla Bypass, Nayagaon Road and Shakumbhari Devi Marg. Whereas vehicles coming from outside districts to Dehradun and Mussoorie have been advised to come via Chhutmalpur-Behat-Dharmawala Chowk-Premnagar-Thakurpur Highway-Ballupur Chowk route.

Apart from this, on April 15, Roorkee-Bhagwanpur-Dehradun road will be completely banned for all types of vehicles. Police has appealed to the citizens for cooperation and said that they should follow the issued traffic plan, so that there is no inconvenience of any kind.
