Defense Minister Sadio Camara killed in a horrific car bomb attack

Mali: A major terrorist attack has been carried out in Mali. Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist organization JNIM and Tuareg rebels jointly attacked many parts of the country. Mali’s Defense Minister Sadio Camara was killed in this attack. On Saturday, his home in the city of Kati, near the capital Bamako, was attacked with a suicide car.

Defense Minister Sadio Camara, his second wife and his two grandchildren have died in this attack. This attack was so powerful that it shook the outskirts of the capital Bamako.

Attacks took place in many parts of the country
The rebels launched simultaneous attacks in several parts of the country. Heavy shelling and fighting resumed in areas like Kati, Kidal, Gao and Savere on Sunday. Tuareg rebels have claimed that Kidal is now completely under their control. Under an agreement, Mali’s army and their ally Russian forces have been allowed to safely leave the military camp there.

Let us tell you that in November 2023, the Mali army, with the help of the Russian Wagner Group, had taken back Kidal from the rebels, which is now out of their hands again. The government says the situation is under control, but the situation on the ground is different. Roads to military bases in the capital Bamako have been closed. People living in areas near the airport are scared of the sound of explosions.

United Nations (UN) chief Antonio Guterres and the European Union have strongly condemned these terrorist attacks and appealed for international cooperation.
