Big leap in cow protection in Moradabad division: 65,113 destitute animals got support in 218 cow shelters.

Rampur: Work is being done at a rapid pace towards the protection of destitute and destitute cattle in the division. The data of the review meeting of cow shelters held on May 12 under the chairmanship of Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh has presented a very positive and strong picture of the division. At present, a total of 65,113 cows have been provided safe shelter in the 218 cow shelters of the division. Under the Chief Minister Destitute Cow Partnership Scheme, the division has registered unprecedented success and has handed over 7703 cows to cattle herders against the set target of 4125. Along with this, extensive arrangements have been made at the ground level to make the cow sheds self-reliant, ensure the supply of green fodder and protect the cows in summers.

According to the data, Sambhal district is at the forefront in the conservation of cows in the division, where the maximum number of 27,768 cows have been protected. After this, 14,658 cows in Bijnor, 10,781 in Moradabad, 8,647 in Amroha and 3,259 cows in Rampur have got shelter. It is the result of the promptness of the administration that including the urban and rural areas of the division, now only Only 684 destitute cows are left, which are yet to be taken to shelters. These include 471 cows from rural areas and 213 cows from urban areas, who are planned to be conserved soon.

Solid arrangement for fodder, greenery from Napier grass

Special emphasis is being laid on straw collection and growing green fodder for the maintenance of cattle. Against the total target of 5,36,396.2 quintal straw collection in the division, arrangements for 4,24,478 quintal (79.14 percent) straw have been made so far. In this, Amroha district has achieved 100.31 percent of its target and Moradabad has achieved 94.64 percent. For uninterrupted supply of green fodder, fodder production is being done on 372.62 hectares of pasture land. Apart from this, by running a special campaign, Napier routes and slips have been procured from Babugarh area, Hapur and distributed among the beneficiaries. Under this, a total of 6,10,000 routes have been distributed and an area of 16 hectares has been covered.

Cowsheds are becoming self-sufficient, earning bumper income from cow dung.

Concrete steps have been taken towards making the cow shelters self-reliant instead of relying only on government grants. CBG (cow dung plants) are working successfully in Kanha and large cow conservation centers of Moradabad, Amroha and Rampur. A 15 KV generator is also being run from the cow dung gas plant at the cow shelter Kira in Rampur. The division is earning good income from the sale of cow products and cow dung. Maximum income from Rs 6,17,636, Amroha has received Rs 5,40,600 and Moradabad Rs 82,829.
Apart from this, wood (cow cast), idols, lamps and incense sticks are being prepared from cow dung in Moradabad, Bijnor and Sambhal.

Special emphasis on heat protection and safety

In view of the upcoming heat stroke and extreme heat, concrete arrangements have been made in the cow sheds. In the cow shelters of all the districts, the doors and windows have been covered with gunny bags, on which water is being sprinkled regularly so that the temperature remains controlled. Complete arrangements of shade and fresh water have been ensured for the protected cows. The board is also very alert in terms of security and monitoring. A total of 216 cow shelters. Of the sites, 210 have been equipped with CCTV cameras so that every movement of the cattle can be monitored.
