Swami Chidananda launched Jal Seva campaign to provide relief from the scorching heat.

Rishikesh. Amidst the scorching heat and continuously rising temperatures, Swami Chidanand Saraswati gave a wonderful message of humanity, service and sensitivity and inspired the teachers of all the schools run by Parmarth Niketan to do the work of providing relief through water service. In the present times, along with keeping oneself safe from the heat, it is also very important to have compassion towards the society, animals, birds and every living being.

At present the temperature is continuously increasing. Due to the scorching heat, many people, especially pilgrims, poor, labourers, travelers, elderly people and small children are facing serious difficulties. At such a time, if we provide even a glass of water to a thirsty person, it will not be just water, but the nectar of humanity.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati inspired the teachers and said that they should arrange for clean and cool water in earthen pots outside their homes, schools, shops and public places so that people can quench their thirst while walking on the road. This is not just service but that eternal tradition of Indian culture in which “Service to man is service to Narayan”.

In the present times, it is necessary to understand the suffering not only of humans but also of animals and birds. Due to extreme heat, many birds suffer due to lack of water and sometimes even die. In such a situation, if every person keeps a small vessel filled with water outside his house, balcony, terrace, shop or office, then it can become a lifeline for any bird.

Swamy called upon teachers to not keep this message limited to themselves but also spread awareness among students and society. The greatest need of the hour is to develop values of service, compassion and nature conservation in children. Only when the new generation becomes sensitive towards water conservation, environment protection and living beings, real change will come in the society.

Swami said that Indian culture has always promoted the feeling of harmony and co-existence with nature. Our sages have considered water as the basis of life. Today, when the earth is facing challenges like water crisis and climate change, water service is not only an act of virtue but also a social responsibility.

In these difficult days of summer, we have to take special care, avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, drink more water, eat nutritious food and also take care of the people around us. If someone appears unwell, come forward to help him. That is true humanity.

Teachers pledged to run water service campaigns in their respective areas. A small effort, a pitcher of water, a container of water and a compassionate feeling can bring relief and hope to many lives. Come, let us all light the lamp of service, compassion and compassion in this scorching heat. Give water to someone thirsty, keep water for animals and birds and take a pledge to keep humanity alive. This is the message of Indian culture and this is also the true religion.
