6 players from MP played important role in India becoming champion in Under 18 Asia Cup
Bhopal . The Indian hockey team performed brilliantly and won the gold medal in the Men’s Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 held in Kakamigahara city of Japan. The Indian team, which performed strongly throughout the tournament, made the country proud by winning the Asia Cup title by winning 4-1 against host Japan in the final match on Saturday.
Six players of Madhya Pradesh State Men’s Hockey Academy played an important role in this historic success of the Indian team. Players who were part of the Indian team include Ayush Rajak (goalkeeper), Ansh Bahru, Karan Gautam, Avi Manikpuri, Siddharth Ben and Ghazi Khan. These players performed excellently throughout the tournament and contributed significantly to India winning the gold medal.
Made place in the final by defeating Pakistan in the semi-finals
Earlier, on the way to the gold medal, the Indian team defeated its arch-rival Pakistan in the semi-finals and entered the finals. This spectacular victory boosted the morale of the players and the team performed excellently in the final match with the same confidence and won the title.

The competition started on May 29 in Kakamigahara city of Japan, in which Asia’s top under-18 hockey teams participated. The Indian team maintained its dominance over the rival teams by displaying disciplined, fast and aggressive play throughout the tournament. India registered its strong presence in Asian hockey by winning the gold medal with a brilliant performance in the final played on Saturday.
