Jaipur: Biggest encroachment removal action, three thousand policemen deployed for security
Jaipur. On Monday, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) started action to remove encroachment on a large scale amidst heavy security arrangements in Nandpuri underpass area of Jagatpura in the capital Jaipur.
The administration remained fully alert regarding the campaign being run to widen the road parallel to the railway line from Nandpuri underpass by 80 feet. About three thousand policemen have been deployed to maintain law and order during the operation.
JDA teams with JCB and other machines reached the spot since morning. The entire area was cordoned off and movement of people was stopped, while roads were closed at many places due to security reasons. The administration also made continuous announcements warning people not to gather on the rooftops of their houses.
In view of the action, the administration temporarily stopped mobile internet services in many police station areas. As per the order of Divisional Commissioner V. Sarwan Kumar, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G mobile internet services will remain suspended from 12 midnight on Sunday to 12 midnight on Monday.
Along with this, internet based messaging services and mass SMS services including WhatsApp, Facebook, X have also been banned.
The administration also temporarily shut down power supply in the operation area, so that internet access through Wi-Fi could not be done. The entire area is being monitored with drone cameras and special cyber teams have been activated to prevent any kind of misleading information or videos from being circulated on social media.
Apart from Jaipur, additional police forces have been called from Kota and Bharatpur range to strengthen the security arrangements in Nandpuri area. Special surveillance is being maintained in sensitive areas. The administration says that immediate action will be taken against any kind of rumour, inflammatory material or activities affecting law and order.
According to Anand Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of JDA Vigilance Branch, 134 encroachments were removed by conducting a campaign on this route on May 22. After this, the affected people were given time to remove the encroachment themselves. After completion of the stipulated period, now the administration has started action again.
According to officials, the width of this one and a half kilometer long road is recorded as 80 feet in the revenue records, but due to encroachment, it was reduced to only 25 to 30 feet at many places. The road connects Nandpuri underpass to Jagatpura and passes through six major colonies.
The administration claims that after the widening of the road, the traffic pressure on Hare Krishna Marg will reduce and traffic from Nandpuri to Jagatpura will become easier. This project will provide better connectivity to the residents of more than 50 nearby colonies to Malviya Nagar, Pradhan Marg and Apex Circle area.
Police and administrative officials are continuously present on the spot during the entire operation. The district administration has appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and not believe any unconfirmed information.
The administration says that this road widening campaign is necessary in public interest and it will be completed with complete security and vigilance.
