Three children who went to take bath in Siddha Sagar pond of Tikamgarh died due to drowning
Bhopal. Three innocent children, who had gone to take bath in Siddha Sagar pond in Aston village of Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, died due to drowning in the water on Thursday. Expressing grief over the accident, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has announced financial assistance to the families of the deceased.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said on social media that the incident of death of three innocent children due to drowning in Siddha Sagar pond located in Astaun village of Tikamgarh district is sad. My condolences are with the bereaved families. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has given instructions on behalf of the state government to provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the affected families. He has prayed to God to give peace to the souls of the deceased children and to give strength to the affected families to bear this immense loss.
According to the information, four children had reached Siddh Sagar pond while playing in Aston village of Kotwali police station area on Thursday afternoon. Amidst the scorching heat, children started bathing in the pond, but within a short time this fun turned into death. The deceased have been identified as 12-year-old Prince Ahirwar, 13-year-old Deepesh Ahirwar and 13-year-old Raj Ahirwar. All three were residents of the same locality and close friends.
Villagers told that there was less water on the banks of the pond, but due to soil excavation in the past, 10 to 12 feet deep pits had formed in the middle part. While playing while bathing, the children reached this deep part. It is feared that a child got trapped in the depth, while trying to save him the other two companions also drowned in the water.
12-year-old Dev Ahirwar, who was with him at the time of the accident, somehow managed to save himself. Seeing his friends drowning in water, he ran towards the village in panic and informed his family and villagers about the incident. As soon as the information was received, there was a stir in the village. A large number of villagers including Kanchanpura locality ran towards the pond with sticks and ropes and entered the water and started searching for the children. After much effort, the three children were taken out, but by then they had died.
Aston outpost in-charge Bhupendra Ahirwar said that there was less water in the pond, but there were deep pits at some places. All three children died due to drowning after going into these. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and the police are investigating the entire matter.
