‘Official letter’ of rebellion in TMC has arrived, signed by 18 MPs including Sayoni Ghosh

The ‘official documents’ of the rebellion in Trinamool Congress (TMC) have also started coming to the fore. News agency ANI has released the list of those Lok Sabha MPs quoting sources. This alleged letter given to the Lok Sabha Speaker by this group claiming the support of 20 MPs, contains the signatures of a total of 19 MPs. As Shatrughan Sinha and Pratima Mandal had refused to go with the rebels, their names are not included in this list. The signatures of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Mala Roy and Sayoni Ghosh, who were very close to Mamata Banerjee, are also included in this letter.

Earlier, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar had written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker demanding that the faction led by him would now support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), hence arrangements should be made to make him sit separately. He had accused the TMC leadership of ignoring the old leaders and workers in the party.

Who did not rebel?

Let us tell you that a total of 29 Lok Sabha MPs of TMC had won the elections in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Basirhat MP Haji Sheikh Noorul Islam passed away in September 2024. In this way the number of TMC MPs came to 28. 19 out of 28 MPs have clearly rebelled. Kalyan Banerjee, one of the remaining 9 MPs, has also started raising rebellious voices.

Abhishek Banerjee- Diamond Harbor
Kalyan Banerjee- Shrirampur
Sudeep Bandopadhyay- Kolkata North
Sajda Ahmed- Uluberia
Kirti Azad- Bardhaman-Durgapur
Mahua Moitra-Krishnanagar
Pratima Mandal-Jayanagar

Shatrughan Sinha-Asansol

Till now these 9 MPs remain with the party. In this, Kalyan Banerjee has now indicated that their paths may also be different. At the same time, Pratima Mandal and Shatrughan Sinha have denied changing sides. Now it remains to be seen whether there is a split among these 9 in the coming days or at least this many MPs will remain with Mamata Banerjee.
