Bhopal. Monsoon has currently weakened in Madhya Pradesh. Monsoon clouds have dispersed from about 60 percent of the state, due to which there is no possibility of heavy or very heavy rain anywhere for the next five days. A new season may become active from July 16, due to which the period of heavy rains is expected to start again in the state.
At present, light rain and drizzle will continue in many parts of the state. On Monday, there is a possibility of light rain with cloudy sky in Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindauri, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Betul, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar and Alirajpur districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, the activity of the south-west monsoon has decreased at present. For this reason, no heavy or very heavy rain was recorded anywhere in the state during the last four to five days.
Only light rain or drizzle is likely for the next few days. Change in weather may be seen after July 16.
Reason for weakening of monsoon
According to meteorologists, the major weather systems that keep the monsoon active have currently weakened or their influence has moved away from Madhya Pradesh. For this reason, only cloudy conditions and light drizzle prevail in most areas.
The Meteorological Department estimates that a new upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form in the North Bay of Bengal between July 13 and 19.
If this system turns into a low pressure area, then good rains can start once again in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, three new weather systems are developing in the Pacific Ocean. If any one of these reaches the Bay of Bengal, the chances of the monsoon becoming active again will increase.
Rainfall figures only 1 percent more than normal
The absence of heavy rain for the last five days has also affected the rainfall figures of the state. The rainfall which was earlier recorded to be about 30 percent more than normal, has now reduced to just 1 percent more.
According to the Meteorological Department, 241.8 mm (9.5 inches) rainfall has been recorded so far in the state, while the normal rainfall during this period is considered to be 239.8 mm (9.4 inches). That means till now there has been only 1 percent more rainfall than normal, which is about 25 percent of the entire monsoon quota.
