Rain wreaks havoc in Gujarat: Car washed away in water filled drain, 4 members of a family killed

Kheda. A painful road accident took place near Matar amid continuous heavy rains in Kheda district of Gujarat. Near Motipura village on the Kheda-Matar highway, the car of a family from Ahmedabad went out of control and fell into a water-filled drain (Garnala).

There were a total of six people in the car, out of which four died, while two people were rescued safely and admitted to the hospital.

Car washed away in strong current
According to preliminary information, the car was passing near Motipura village. Meanwhile, due to heavy rain, the car went out of control and fell into a drain filled with water. Due to the strong current, the car overturned and started flowing in the water, due to which the people inside it got trapped inside.

Local people and administration launched rescue operation
As soon as information about the incident was received, local people reached the spot and informed the police and administration. Kheda Deputy Collector Suraj Barot, Matar Mamlatdar and Kheda Fire Brigade team immediately reached the spot.

After much effort, the fire brigade pulled out two people alive from the car. The injured were admitted to Kheda Civil Hospital with the help of 108 ambulances, where their treatment is going on.

Mourning over the death of four people
During the rescue operation, other people trapped in the car were searched. After much effort, four bodies were recovered. In this accident, the death of four people of the same family of Ahmedabad has been confirmed. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area after the incident.

Accident investigation started
In the preliminary investigation, heavy rain, waterlogging on the road and low visibility are being considered as the possible causes of the accident. Police said that they have registered a case and started investigation. Along with informing the families of the deceased, the administration is also investigating the exact cause of the accident.
