Sensex takes care of the market, Nifty closed in red for the third day

Stock Market: The Indian stock market witnessed volatile trading on Thursday. The Sensex closed with a slight gain, while the Nifty closed with a decline for the third consecutive trading session. Selling in metal and private bank shares kept pressure on the market. However, the fall was limited to some extent by buying in realty and consumer durables sectors.

At the end of trading, Sensex closed at 78,079.96, up 113.61 points. Whereas Nifty slipped 40.10 points to 24,395.85. The number of rising and falling stocks in the market was almost equal. A total of 2,088 shares closed in advance and 2,052 shares closed in decline.

Maximum pressure in metal stocks
Talking about sectoral trading, the Nifty Metal index fell by about 1%, while the Private Bank index declined by 0.5%. On the other hand, Realty index rose 1% and Consumer Durables rose 0.45%.

Most sectoral indices appeared under pressure
Most sectoral indices remained under pressure in the Indian stock market on Thursday. Nifty Metal index was the weakest with a fall of 1.28%. Apart from this, a decline of 0.42% was recorded in Nifty Pharma and 0.58% in Nifty PSU Bank. However, FMCG, IT and media sectors closed in the green, limiting the market’s fall.

Rupee also weakened
The Indian rupee also weakened against the US dollar amid stock market pressure. During trading, the rupee fell by 10 paise to Rs 95.43 per dollar. At the same time, the price of Brent crude oil declined by about 1.70% to $ 87.47 per barrel, but this level still remains high.

Mixed trading in Tata Group shares
Shares of Tata Group witnessed mixed trading for the second consecutive day after Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran announced that he will not contest for the post of chairman again after his current term ends in February 2027. TCS rose 0.35% to ₹2,358 while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles gained 1.52% to close at ₹348. Tata Chemicals also gained 0.14% to ₹674. On the other hand, Titan Company fell 1.18% to ₹5,036 and Voltas fell 0.34% to ₹1,285.
