Rain wreaks havoc in North India, life affected in three states

Life remained disrupted due to rain and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand on Tuesday. During heavy rains in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, a house collapsed due to debris coming from the mountains, due to which a two-year-old child and an old woman died after being buried under the debris, while the search for a man is going on. A woman was rescued safely.

In Himachal Pradesh, due to heavy rains, a limestone mine in Sirmaur collapsed, burying three workers, while in Lahaul-Spiti, many roads were washed away due to cloudburst at three places.

Due to which the vehicles of devotees and farmers who had set out on Neelkanth Yatra got stuck. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain in Dehradun and Bageshwar on Wednesday.

Due to sudden rise in the water level of Swarna River due to heavy rains in Dehradun, six students of UPES University, who were on trekking, got stuck in the middle of the river.
