Spin all-rounder Manav Suthar and batsman Devdutt Padikkal had important contributions in this victory of the Indian team. While Suthar sent 10 Sri Lankan batsmen to the pavilion by taking 4 wickets in the first innings and 6 wickets in the second innings, Padikkal performed brilliantly with his bat and scored a total of 211 runs in the match. Padikkal scored 167 runs in the first innings and 44 runs in the second innings.
In the match, India had scored 462 runs in its first innings. Sri Lanka’s first innings was reduced to 284 runs. This gave the Indian team a lead of 178 runs in the second innings. Sri Lanka lost six wickets for 122 runs on the fifth day
On the fifth and last day of the match, Sri Lanka started its second innings with a score of 84/4. Captain Dhananjay de Silva and Sonal Dinusha batted cautiously and rescued the team from the initial shocks. Both completed their respective half-centuries and took the team’s score beyond 140 runs.
