Amstelveen. In its last league match of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026, India defeated Pakistan 5-3 and entered the next round. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed happiness over this spectacular victory and said that the team maintained India’s dominance that has been going on for decades.
With this victory, the Indian team has made its place in the next round. At the same time, Pakistan’s journey in the World Cup has ended with the defeat. India has dominated its arch-rival Pakistan in the last decade and has defeated them in all the matches played at senior and junior levels since 2016.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek scored 2 goals each for India in the match played at Wagner Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen on Wednesday. Harmanpreet scored from penalty corners in the 5th and 21st minutes, while Abhishek scored field goals in the 11th and 24th minutes. For Pakistan, Hanan Shahid scored two goals and Sufiyan Khan reduced the difference by scoring one goal. Hardik Singh scored the fifth goal for India.
India played the last moments of the match with patience and won 5-3. The result left India second in Pool D and firmly in the race for a semi-final spot, while England advanced as pool winners and Pakistan and Wales advanced to the classification stage.
