Barsali, a small village in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh situated at the central point of the country, is now going to become a big identity on the tourism and science map of the country. Barsali village, located about 16 kilometers away on the Betul-Amla road in the beautiful valleys of Satpura, has been identified as the exact latitudinal half-way of India.
Madhya Pradesh’s National Award winning astronomy broadcaster Sarika Gharu said on Monday that if the latitudes of India’s far northernmost point, Indira Kol of Ladakh and the southernmost point of Great Nicobar, Indira Point, are exactly halved, then the exact mathematical midpoint comes to 21 degrees, 55 minutes, 05 seconds north latitude. Barsali village is situated exactly on this latitude line.
He told that this scientific calculation proves that Barsali is the latitudinal half way of India. Apart from this, this region has also traditionally been considered the center of united India. Two special videos of this astronomical event have been prepared by Sarika. In these, underlining the astronomical importance of Barsali, an appeal has been made to the tourists from the country and the world to come here.
In these two videos prepared by Sarika Gharu under the guidance of Betul Collector Dr. Saurabh Sanjay Sonawane, the entire tourism potential of Betul district along with Barsali has been covered. He said that the aim of this initiative is to unite not only Barsali but also other important places of Betul district of Narmadapuram division.
