West Singhbhum. A sudden strong current in the Kuili Pahari river engulfed three villagers in Bahda village under Chotanagra police station in Saranda area of West Singhbhum district late on Sunday evening. In the intensive search operation launched after the accident, the bodies of Munda Roya Sidhu’s parents have been recovered.
Meanwhile, Bamiya Sidhu’s wife Sunita Sidhu has not been found yet. The police and villagers are continuously searching for him. It was told that after attending the funeral of a villager in Bahda village on Sunday, Bosen Sidhu, his wife and Sunita Sidhu were returning to their home after crossing the river. Meanwhile, due to rain in the hilly area, the water in Kuili river suddenly increased. Within no time, the current of the river became so strong that all three villagers were swept away in its flow.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the villagers started a large-scale search around the river. After a lot of search, the body of Munda Roya Sidhu’s mother was found stuck in the bushes of the river, about 500 meters away from the spot. The villagers took out the body. After this the search operation was continued, in which the body of Munda’s father Bosen Sidhu was also recovered. There is mourning in Bahda village due to the news of death of both members of the same family.
Here, the police team under the leadership of Chhotanagra police station in-charge Gautam Kumar was also busy searching for the third missing woman Sunita Sidhu. Police and villagers conducted a search operation for hours in the river banks, bushes and areas with possible water flow, but till late night no trace of Sunita could be found.
The search operation faced a lot of difficulties due to continuous rain, darkness and strong current of the river. Despite this, the police and villagers continued the search. A massive operation is being conducted again on Monday morning to search for Sunita Sidhu.
