In order to conduct the Municipal Elections 2026 in a peaceful, free and fair manner and to maintain law and order and public peace, victory procession has been banned in Jaipur Police Commissionerate area. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) and Executive Magistrate Rajeev Pachar have issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), 2023.
According to this order, from September 13 to September 25, the candidates, elected members, presidents, vice-presidents or their supporters who won the civic elections in Jaipur Police Commissionerate area will not be able to take out victory processions in public places.
Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) and Executive Magistrate Rajeev Pachar said that as per the schedule of the State Election Commission, the first phase of voting will be held on September 9 and the second phase of voting will be held on September 11. Counting of votes will take place on September 14. The election for the post of President will be held on September 21 and the election for the post of Vice President will be held on September 22. This restriction has been imposed to maintain law and order after the election results. Punitive action will be taken against the person or group disobeying this order under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) 2023. The administration has issued the order unilaterally considering the sensitivity of the circumstances.
To disseminate information about the prohibitory order to the general public and candidates, orders are being pasted on the notice boards of the Police Commissioner’s Office, all police stations, District Collector and Election Office. Besides, it is also being widely publicized through newspapers and other media.
