Patna. A large number of students and candidates took to the streets of Patna on Tuesday demanding various demands related to the competitive examinations including Inspector Recruitment, 70th Joint Competitive Examination of BPSC and the pending examinations of Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). The protesting students who came out from Gandhi Maidan for Raj Bhavan march were stopped by the police near JP Golambar. During this period, a large number of police force teams were deployed.
The protesting candidates were moving towards Raj Bhavan from Gandhi Maidan, raising slogans regarding their various demands. Police stopped the march by barricading near JP Golambar. During this, some candidates climbed the barricades and started raising slogans against the government. This created a tense situation at the spot for some time. After being stopped from moving further by the police, a group of protesters started moving towards Dak Bungalow intersection.
However, the police stopped them by barricading there also. The police continuously appealed to the candidates not to proceed further. The protesters kept raising slogans regarding their demands. The major demands of the candidates include the demand to cancel and re-conduct the 70th BPSC examination and the Inspector recruitment examination for 1,799 posts. The protesters allege that there were irregularities in both the recruitment processes. The matter related to Inspector Recruitment Examination is being investigated by the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU).
Students say that when the investigation into the alleged irregularities in the examination is going on, then it should be canceled and the examination should be conducted afresh. The protesting students also raised questions regarding the 70th examination of BPSC. They allege that there were large-scale irregularities in the examination, but till now no concrete steps have been taken towards canceling the examination. Students say that along with investigation of the matter, a clear decision should be taken in the interest of the candidates.
Apart from this, students also raised the demand to conduct the pending examinations of Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) soon. He says that the process of various competitive examinations has been stuck for a long time, due to which the future of thousands of candidates is being affected. The candidates demanded to ensure transparency in the recruitment processes and a high-level investigation into the alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
The protesters allege that the government gives assurances of investigation and action, but concrete decisions are not being taken in the interest of the students. The students said that due to these problems they had to adopt the path of agitation. The candidates said that the agitation will continue until the government takes a decision. He warned that if a positive decision on the demands is not taken soon, the movement will be intensified.
