The video showing MG Motors Hector Tomahawk EV powering its own launch event has been shared on Instagram by Automanav on their page. It starts off with the presenter showing the Hector Tomahawk EV event held by MG Motors. He shows that this event, like any other event, has a complete setup of televisions, lights, stage, sound and others.
Following this, he mentions that, in general, when an event of this scale takes place, the company or any person would get a generator of 5 to 6 or 10 KVA. However, he adds that MG has saved that money because they are using their own vehicle, the Hector Tomahawk EV, to power this entire event. Soon after this, he walks out of the main event.

After which, he shows the MG Hector Tomahawk EV parked outside with the cable attached to it. He mentions that the vehicle comes with the Vehicle-to-Load feature, and using the charging port, the entire event has been powered by this vehicle. The presenter then jokes that with the Hector Tomahawk EV, the owner does not need to get a generator for their weddings, birthday parties and other events.

The presenter in the video mentions that the MG Hector Tomahawk EV comes equipped with a large 69.2 kWh battery pack, which basically makes it a portable generator or mobile power bank. The vehicle, in order to be used as a generator, needs a dedicated AC coupler or adapter, which plugs into the vehicle’s charging port.
After which, electricity can be drawn out directly from the car’s high-voltage battery. This system converts the battery’s DC power into standard AC electricity. And that allows users to plug in regular household extension cords and power strips. Apart from the event, the vehicle can be used to easily run appliances like juicers, coffee makers, laptops, projectors, or electric grills directly from the car.

MG also offers Vehicle-to-Vehicle or V2V features as well. This feature allows the Tomahawk EV to output enough power to charge another stranded electric vehicle. Additionally, the Tomahawk EV also gets Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) as well, which is a segment-first feature. With this, the SUV can act as a backup home generator, and it can supply power back into the household. It can run heavy appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners during an electric outage.
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 19.49 lakh, and it goes up to Rs 23.49 lakh. MG is offering this vehicle with a single battery pack of 69.2 kWh. As for the range, the company claims a range of 517 km. However, in the real world, it will be around 400 to 420 km.

MG has loaded the Hector Tomahawk EV with a lot of features. Its highlights include a panoramic sunroof, an 8.8-inch fully digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other features include connected car features, powered tailgate, ambient lighting, dedicated pet mode, 10-speaker Infinity audio, powered and ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, and wireless charger for smartphones. It also gets Level 2 ADAS as well.
