Yogendra Singh, a candidate from Ramkot Madhiya Rahimpur of Sitapur, died due to a small water bottle getting stuck in his neck in the race for Home Guard recruitment at 35th Vahini PAC Ground in Lucknow metropolis on Tuesday, not because of the race.
According to the post-mortem report, there are also 12 injury marks on his body. His brother Kamal Kishore has filed a murder report against unknown at the Mahanagar police station on Saturday.
According to Kamal, at the time of the incident, police officials had described Yogendra’s death as normal. Then in the post mortem report received on September 18, the cause of death was stated to be suffocation. Kamal alleges that Yogendra was assaulted or forced.
A 250 ml plastic bottle was forcibly stuffed in his mouth, due to which the brother died. He has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.
Besides, a demand has been made to scrutinize the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the 35th Corps PAC complex and interrogate the candidates and staff present at the time of the incident.
A five-member team has been formed to investigate the matter. Apart from the post-mortem report, all other aspects are being investigated.
