Asian Games 2026: India opened its medal account on Sunday in the Asian Games 2026. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarasa K in the women’s 10 meter air rifle team event. Vinod’s trio won the silver medal for India. In the same competition, Elavenil Valarivan also performed brilliantly in the individual competition and won another silver medal. Both the medals came to India’s kitty at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Range.
However, amidst the joy of winning the medal, the Indian shooting team is facing poor facilities in Japan. According to NDTV sources, since reaching Aichi-Nagoya, Indian shooters and coaches have had to go through many problems related to transportation and logistics. There were delays in the players reaching the venue on time and on many occasions difficulties arose regarding transport arrangements.
Why do we have to wait so long?
The Indian shooting team reached Japan on 15 September. According to the report, the players and coaches had to wait for about three hours for arrangements to take them from the airport to the hotel. This travel delay affected the initial preparations of the team.
What happened on 17 and 20 September?
Even on September 17, Indian shooters and coaches had to face problems. It was told that the bus scheduled to take the team to the competition venue did not arrive on time. Due to this, players and coaches had to wait for about three hours. On September 20, the Indian team won two silver medals, but even on the day of this achievement, the shooting team faced problems related to transport. According to the report, there were not enough seats available for all the players in the bus. Due to which some players and coaches had to get off the bus.
What happened on 21st September?
Even on 21st September, the journey was not easy for the Indian shooting team. Due to delays in the entry process and long queues, the team had to wait for about 20 minutes to board the bus. The organizers had estimated that it would take about 80 minutes to reach the shooting range from the hotel. However, according to reports the actual journey took more than two hours. This delay once again created problems for the players and their support staff.
